P Malcolm Gulley CPA

P Malcolm Gulley
Certified Public Accountant
Malcolm grew up in Kenedy, Texas, graduated from Kenedy High School in 1962, and graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a degree in accounting in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart (still is sweetheart) in 1965. Upon graduation, he and his wife, Saralyn (our office manager/receptionist), moved back to Kenedy, where he went to work for his father, Joe L. Gulley, who was a Certified Public Accountant. Upon passing the CPA Exam, he and his father formed an accounting partnership, Gulley & Gulley, CPA’s, with one office in Kenedy, Texas. At the time, their accounting practice was the only “certified public” accounting practice between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. The current office, located in Karnes City, Texas, was opened in 1976, while the office in Kenedy was closed following Malcolm’s father’s retirement and death in 1981. Malcolm and Saralyn’s son, Cameron L. Gulley, is also a Certified Public Accountant, and he practices in Eastland, Texas, choosing to only practice in the field of governmental auditing. They also have a daughter, Candi Gulley Loe, who is a school teacher in Frisco, Texas.
Malcolm has been practicing public accounting for over fifty years, all in the same firm, serving clients throughout Karnes and surrounding counties. Having spent many years practicing in all areas of accounting, including preparing audited, compiled, and reviewed financial statements, today he and his staff restrict the practice to non-attest services.
Malcolm is a life member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Texas Association of Certified Public Accountants (founding member), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a life member of the Ex-Students’ Association of the University of Texas. As a private pilot, he is also a member of several aviation associations.
Malcolm serves on the board of directors of the Karnes County National Bank and has done so for over thirty-five years. Being a private pilot and an aviation enthusiast, he serves on the Airport Board of the City of Kenedy, serving as its chairman.

Amy Zaiontz
Amy Zaiontz is a 1994 graduate of Poth High School. She worked at the bank in Floresville while earning her associate’s in accounting from Coastal Bend College. After completing her associate's degree, Amy moved to San Marcos and worked at a bank in Austin, and then for a company in Austin doing accounts payable and payroll management. Amy married her college sweetheart, Danny Zaiontz, and eventually they moved to San Antonio for Danny's job, and Amy found work as an HRIS Analyst. While in San Antonio, Amy and Danny had their first child, a daughter, Abby. After her birth, they decided to move back to her home community of Kosciusko, Texas, to raise their family. Shortly after moving back to Kosciusko, Amy gave birth to their second daughter, Alyssa. While her children were younger, Amy worked at a local accounting firm as a staff accountant. As her daughters grew, family obligations pulled Amy away from accounting, and she ended up teaching math in Floresville, Texas, to middle and high school students. After nine years of teaching in Floresville, and while her youngest daughter was in high school, Amy went back to college and in August of 2025, she graduated with a master's in accounting from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. After graduating, Amy joined P Malcolm Gulley, CPA in September of 2025.
Amy and Danny enjoy raising cattle on their small farm in Kosciusko and relaxing in Rockport when they can get away. Amy has also been an officer for the Kosciusko Hall, as treasurer since 2005, volunteering her knowledge and time.
Saralyn Overby Gulley
Office Manager/Receptionist
Saralyn grew up on a farm outside of Pawnee, Texas, a small rural community fifteen miles west of Kenedy. She graduated from Pawnee High School in 1963 and should have graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a PTH degree (Put Husband Through). She married her high school sweetheart (still is her sweetheart) in 1965. Upon Malcolm's (her sweetheart) graduation from UT in 1966, they moved back to Malcolm's hometown of Kenedy, Texas, where he went to work for his father, Joe L. Gulley, who was a Certified Public Accountant. Saralyn went to work in their office as the office manager/receptionist, at Joe's (her father-in-law) request. He said it would only be for a few months(until they could find someone), and she is still serving in that capacity, although in the office in Karnes City, to this day. “Only a few months” turned out to be more than a “few months”, almost fifty years.
Saralyn, foremost, is a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Actually, she is a “great” everything. She worked in this office while raising her children, watching over them, helping with homework, etc, all the while tending to her office activities and duties as office manager, “peacekeeper” and receptionist, with the kids sitting at the table in the next room. Now that they are grown, she has to be content just dreaming about them, their kids, and their kids' kids. And those kids, Cameron and Candi, have grown up. Cameron is a Certified Public Accountant who has an accounting practice in Eastland, Texas, choosing to only practice in the field of governmental auditing, and Candi is a schoolteacher in Frisco, Texas.
